SUMMER SEVENS ADULT BIBLE STUDY

WED., 7 AM OR 7 PM IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL (JUN. 7-AUG. 9)

Where is God when bad things happen? This is one of the central questions in the Book of Esther. As the people of   Israel are threatened, they seek a hero (or heroine) who will intercede for them. The Book of Esther is an exciting account of how God uses an unlikely champion who, like Jesus, is willing to die for her people and is an advocate on their   behalf. Come Wednesdays at 7 AM or 7 PM, Jun. 7 through Aug. 9, to study the Book of Esther together.

SUNDAY ADULT FORUM

SUN., 9:30 AM IN THE IMMANUEL LIBRARY (SEP.-MAY)

TUESDAY AM BIBLE STUDY

TUES., 9:30-11 AM (AUG.30-MAY 30)

EARLY RISERS BIBLE STUDY

WEDS., 6:30-7:30 AM (AUG. 31-MAY 31)

Pastor Kennaugh is leading an exciting chronological study of the Word of God from Genesis through Revelation with The Gospel Project. The Gospel Project provides a three-year journey through the Word of God that focuses on three critical aspects of each text we encounter. First, it draws out the rich lessons God is teaching in the text. Second, it places the text within the framework of God’s plan of Salvation in Jesus Christ, which is the overarching story of the Bible. Third, it pauses to examine critical Christian doctrine drawn from each section of Scripture. The curriculum not only provides resources to guide our discussions from week to week, but also a personal study guide that allows those who want to go even deeper a chance to engage the texts on a daily basis. I hope you will consider joining us on an amazing journey through the Word of God.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

WEDS., 9 AM IN THE FELLOWHSIP HALL (AUG 31-MAY 31)

BEGINNING JAN. 4: Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl

Lysa TerKeurst knows what it’s like to consider God just another thing on her to-do list. For years she went through the motions of a Christian life: Go to church. Pray. Be nice. She longed for a deeper connection between what she knew in her head and her everyday reality, and she wanted to personally experience God’s presence.

DISCOVERING IMMANUEL

SUNS. AT NOON, AS SCHEDULED

Discovering Immanuel is the first of three classes designed to guide participants through a process from considering membership in the Immanuel community to active and intentional participation. The three classes are:

  1. Discovering Immanuel: An exploration of the core beliefs that shape how we experience God and live out our faith.
  2. Discovering Maturity: A further look at what the Bible teaches with an emphasis on discovery of your SHAPE, a tool that shows how your spiritual gifts and personal talents make you unique in the Kingdom of God and where best to apply them.
  3. Discovering Missions: A focus on the Great Commission and Command that move us to use our unique SHAPE to build the Kingdom of God both locally and globally.

This fall’s Discovering Immanuel class will cover the key things that you need to know to be an active and engaged participant at Immanuel and that are essential to understand if you are interested in becoming a member. You will also have the opportunity to meet with an active and mature member of Immanuel who can answer questions and help you make connections. Finally, you will be introduced to key ministry leaders and entry level ministry opportunities to consider.

The class will cover these topics:

  1. What is the Bible and why should I trust it
  2. Who is God
  3. What is Salvation and How does it Work
  4. God’s Gifts: the Sacraments
  5. Why Should I Belong to a Church

Discovering Immanuel is a great starting point for everyone! I hope you will consider attending.

HOFFMAN(N) MEN'S BIBLE STUDY

SATS., 8 AM, FELLOWSHIP HALL / BATAVIA PANERA

This fall the men of Immanuel will be studying the Gospel of John. The Gospel of John provides a wonderful opportunity to sit with the disciples at the feet of Jesus as He engages in powerful conversations with the people He encounters. This study is designed to be conversational in style and the content accessible whether you are a Bible novice or expert. Come meet other men from Immanuel who are seeking to know and follow Jesus more nearly.

THEOLOGY ON TAP

SECOND MONS., CROSSTOWN GRILL & PUB, BATAVIA

On the second  Monday of each month members of Immanuel will gather at a local watering hole for a time of fellowship and relevant theological discussion. The topics will often deal with current events, considering how the issue impacted the Church in Luther’s day, what the good Doctor had to say about it, and then dovetailing into a conversation about how it is impacting the Church today. Bring your Bible, order a pint, and join the conversation.
